5 Great Reasons Why New Hampshire Should Secede

There are many reasons why the average Granite Stater would be better off in an independent New Hampshire. Here are 5 great reasons why New Hampshire should secede:

1. No more undeclared wars

Legally, only Congress can declare war with another country. This was one of the checks and balances the founders of the United States put in place. The President is the Commander in Chief of the U.S. armed forces. The founders didn’t want to place the power to call for war and control the military in just one person.

The U.S. Federal government hasn’t been following its own rules on this matter for GENERATIONS. The last time Congress officially declared war with another nation was… World War 2. Since then, the U.S. military has been mobilized in all of the following conflicts:

• The Korean War 1950 – 1953
• Cuba/Bay of Pigs 1961
• Vietnam War 1961 – 1973
• Dominican Republic 1965
• Lebanon 1982
• Grenada 1983
• Panama 1989
• Gulf War (Kuwait and Iraq) – 1991
• Somalia 1993
• Haiti 1994
• Bosnia 1994-1995
• Kosovo 1999
• Afghanistan 2001 – 2021
• Iraq War 2003 – 2010
• Libya 2011
• War with ISIL – 2012 – 2019
• Syria 2017 – present

This doesn’t even count numerous proxy wars, in which the U.S. has given money, weapons, jets, personnel and/or training to the military of another country to help them fight someone else. Tragically, the list is too long to fit in this article; more info is available here.

About 20% of the federal budget goes to “defense”. An independent New Hampshire would save enormous amounts of money that go to the military-industrial complex to wage illegitimate wars in far-off places just to make a profit and meddle in other countries’ business. It would stop participating in the deaths of millions of innocent civilians in those countries. And it would stop wasting the lives of our young men and women in the armed forces. It would stop injuring, traumatizing, maiming and killing them in unnecessary, illegal wars.

2. No More Inflation

The federal government is making a lot of inaccurate, and sometimes downright ridiculous, statements right now about the cause of inflation. Inflation is caused by an increase in the quantity of money and credit. The Federal Reserve caused the price inflation that Americans are now suffering from by vastly increasing the money supply during 2020, to try to offset the economic disaster of the federal government shutting down the country to fight COVID. 3. No More Attacks on the Right to Self-Defense

New Hampshire has a very gun-friendly culture. Residents don’t need a permit to carry a gun, either openly or concealed. And Granite Staters love our guns! In fact, New Hampshire has the second highest number of guns per capita of any state (behind only Wyoming).

As we know all too well, the federal government has been trying for decades to reduce, or even eliminate, U.S. citizens’ natural right to own guns to defend themselves. Leaving the union will ensure this stops.

4. Freedom from federal laws

Did you know that even the FEDERAL GOVERNMENT doesn’t know how many federal laws there are?! According to an article in the Wall Street Journal , the Department of Justice tried to count them once, but had to admit defeat. According to best estimates, there are more than 300,000 federal crimes!

Congress routinely passes bills that its members freely admit they haven’t even read. Sometimes they pass them when there are only a few Congress people in the room, meaning that your duly elected representatives weren’t even there. They routinely combine different topics into one mega-bill, slipping in things that benefit specific regions at everyone else’s expense (aka “pork”).

New Hampshire laws are freely available to read online at http://www.gencourt.state.nh.us/ . There’s a nice search feature that lets you search by topic. Volunteers in the watchdog organization New Hampshire Liberty Alliance read every proposed new law ahead of time. State representatives are easily accessible to their constituents, by phone, email, and even face to face. In an independent New Hampshire, it will be very clear what the laws are, and there will be a LOT fewer of them.

5. No more Department of Education

You know what your children need, and how they learn, better than anyone else. No one is more invested in seeing them thrive than you are. In an independent New Hampshire, there won’t be a federal agency thousands of miles away setting rules about standardized testing, what topics may or may not be discussed, and what books may or may not be read. Decisions about public schools (if they even continue to exist) will be made at the state level, by people who are local and accountable.
