“Surely you can’t be serious? You’re starting a website about… secession?!”
I know what some of you are thinking. In fact, I’ve had some of the same thoughts myself.
- It’ll NEVER happen!
- Only a handful of weirdos will ever support THAT!
- People will think you’re a racist if you even mention the word secession
- Why do you hate America?
- How will you protect yourself from foreign invaders without the strength of the U.S. national armed forces?
- How will you trade goods and services with other countries?
- Who will run the schools?
- Who will build the roads?
- How will the banks work?
- Don’t you know that you’re dependent on food from other parts of the U.S.?
- The Federal government will never let it happen. Have you heard about something called the Civil War?
- Your state will be a poor, disadvantaged backwater without the rest of the United States to support it.
- Why are you so ungrateful for what the U.S. gives you?
- Why don’t you support the troops?
- Don’t you have any loyalty to your homeland?
- What about the other people in your state who don’t want to leave the U.S.?
- Sure, the current administration stinks, but it’ll get better as soon as the{insert political party here} gets back in charge!
- Yes, the current President is awful, but it’ll get better as soon as we replace him with {insert politician’s name here}!
- Secession is illegal, and anyone who openly supports it will wind up in prison.

I am convinced that an independent New Hampshire is not only possible, it’s probable. Not today, of course. Or tomorrow. But within a few years.
My goal is to provide information on why it makes sense for the average Granite Stater. My hope is to convince you of both the feasibility of an independent New Hampshire, and the desirability.

In Congress, July 4, 1776
The unanimous Declaration of the thirteen united States of America, When in the Course of human events, it becomes necessary for one people to dissolve the political bands which have connected them with another, and to assume among the powers of the earth, the separate and equal station to which the Laws of Nature and of Nature’s God entitle them, a decent respect to the opinions of mankind requires that they should declare the causes which impel them to the separation.We hold these truths to be self-evident, that all men are created equal, that they are endowed by their Creator with certain unalienable Rights, that among these are Life, Liberty and the pursuit of Happiness.–
That to secure these rights, Governments are instituted among Men, deriving their just powers from the consent of the governed, –That whenever any Form of Government becomes destructive of these ends, it is the Right of the People to alter or to abolish it, and to institute new Government, laying its foundation on such principles and organizing its powers in such form, as to them shall seem most likely to effect their Safety and Happiness.
